Cherry Blossom vs EasyEDA: the best EasyEDA alternative

EasyEDA and Cherry Blossom both run in a browser tab and both end with a board you can order. EasyEDA is a free manual editor connected to LCSC's parts and JLCPCB's factory, where you draw every wire yourself. Cherry Blossom is an AI agent that designs the board from what you tell it and checks it before you order.

By Arnaud and Anass

The short answer

The best EasyEDA alternative for makers and engineers who want a working board without drawing it is Cherry Blossom: you describe the board in plain English and get a checked schematic, PCB layout and fab files in the same browser tab, with an editable KiCad project if you want to finish by hand.

If you want another free manual editor, KiCad is the usual second choice and it imports EasyEDA Std and Pro projects. DipTrace suits people who want a desktop licence they buy once.

The problem

Why do people look for an EasyEDA alternative?

  • Drawing by hand. EasyEDA is free, but you still pick every part, draw every wire and route every trace yourself.

  • The supply chain. EasyEDA is built around LCSC parts and JLCPCB ordering, which is ideal if that is your fab and less useful if it is not.

  • Size limits. The Std edition tops out at 300 devices or 1,000 pads, so bigger boards push you to Pro or to another tool.

  • The free plan's edges. Free accounts get 0.5GB of cloud storage and ads, which the paid Premium plan removes.

The difference

How is Cherry Blossom different from EasyEDA?

EasyEDA comes in two editions, both free. Std is the quick-start one, for designs up to 300 devices or 1,000 pads, with simple circuit simulation, aimed at students, teachers and makers. Pro is the one EasyEDA recommends, with a newer interface and room for much larger designs. Both run in the browser or as desktop clients, with offline modes that keep projects on your own disk. EasyEDA connects to LCSC for components and JLCPCB for boards, and one-click ordering matches the manufacturing files automatically.

Cherry Blossom skips the drawing. You describe the board, an agent writes it as tscircuit code in a cloud sandbox, builds it, and shows you the schematic, PCB, 3D view and BOM. Footprints come from real part data, every AI edit goes through a verification gate, and a DRC check runs before you can order.

Cost

What does each one cost?

EasyEDA's editors are free for everyone, including commercial use. Its optional Individuals Premium plan is $19.9 a month, billed annually, as listed on EasyEDA's pricing page, September 2026. Premium raises cloud storage from 0.5GB to 10GB and adds longer operation logs, more component drawing requests a month, priority support and an ad-free editor. A per-member Enterprise plan is listed as coming soon.

Pro is $20 a month with 4M AI credits and 600 AI actions a day. Ultra is $140 a month with 32M credits and the frontier models. Usage past the allowance is $5 per 1M credits, only if you turn it on. The AI is included, with no API key and no per-seat licence. What you pay for is the AI doing the design work. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.

Switching

What happens to your EasyEDA projects?

Cherry Blossom does not import EasyEDA projects. It starts every board from a description, so your existing designs either stay in EasyEDA or move to KiCad, whose importers read EasyEDA Std backups and Pro projects.

Ordering changes too. Cherry Blossom's built-in route is a hand-off to PCBWay rather than JLCPCB. If you want to keep ordering from JLCPCB, download the Gerbers, drill files, BOM and pick-and-place files and upload them there yourself.

Choosing

When is Cherry Blossom the better choice?

  • You know what the board should do but do not want to lay it out yourself.

  • You want parts chosen and footprints matched from real part data, rather than searching a library.

  • You want every change checked against manufacturing rules before you can order.

  • You want the design in open formats: an editable KiCad project and Circuit JSON.

That covers most makers and students who picked EasyEDA because it was free and in the browser.

When is EasyEDA the better choice?

  • You want a free tool and you enjoy drawing and routing the board yourself.

  • You order from JLCPCB and source from LCSC, and want that path to be one click.

  • You want quick circuit simulation of a simple design (EasyEDA Std).

The honest limits. Cherry Blossom is an early beta. You change a board by asking the agent, not by dragging traces yourself, so fine manual layout happens after a KiCad export. It is not a circuit simulator, it has no real-time multi-user editing, and it is not built for high-speed or RF sign-off.

The quickest way to judge any of this is to describe a board and read what comes back: the schematic, the layout, and what the verification gate says about it. It runs in the browser, with the AI included.

Questions

The best EasyEDA alternative for people who want a working board without drawing it is Cherry Blossom. Like EasyEDA it runs in the browser, but instead of placing parts and routing traces yourself, you describe the board in plain English. An AI agent picks parts, builds the schematic and PCB layout, matches footprints from real part data, and runs every edit through a verification gate. You export Gerbers, a BOM, pick-and-place files or an editable KiCad project, or hand the board to PCBWay to order. Plans start from $20 a month. If you want another free manual editor instead, KiCad is the usual pick: it is open source, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and imports EasyEDA Std backups and Pro projects. DipTrace suits people who want a desktop licence they buy once. If your whole workflow is JLCPCB and LCSC and you enjoy drawing, staying on EasyEDA is reasonable.

Yes. EasyEDA's Std and Pro editors are free, including for commercial use. An optional Individuals Premium plan, listed at $19.9 a month billed annually in September 2026, adds storage, priority support and an ad-free editor.

Yes. KiCad's documentation lists EasyEDA Std backups and EasyEDA Pro projects among its import formats. Run KiCad's rules checks on the imported design before ordering.

Cherry Blossom's built-in ordering is a hand-off to PCBWay, where you see PCBWay's own quote and cart. You can also download the Gerbers, drill files, BOM and pick-and-place files and upload them to any fab house you like.
