Cherry Blossom v2
is here
Cherry Blossom v2 is our own PCB and schematic editor, in the browser, with Sakura built in. It replaced our earlier editor. Here is what is new, and where each part is explained.
What is Cherry Blossom v2?
Cherry Blossom v2 is AI PCB design software that runs in a browser tab: a schematic and PCB editor with an AI agent, Sakura, built in. It has a schematic editor, a board editor with routing and pours, a 3D view, and a Checks panel, and you can do all of it by hand. Sakura sits beside them: it finds real parts, draws and tidies the schematic, and asks before it places and routes.
It lives at /app and it replaced our earlier editor. Projects now save to your account, and the projects page at /projects lists them as cards or rows with a board preview, plus search, rename, duplicate, download and drag-and-drop import. Boards made in the earlier editor can be converted into projects.
When a board is done, it exports as Gerbers and drill files, a bill of materials, pick-and-place, STEP, a KiCad project and Circuit JSON. You upload those to any board house. See open standards for the formats.
What is new in Cherry Blossom v2?
Six areas changed. Each has its own post with the detail and the limits.
Can I bring my KiCad projects in and out?
KiCad
Yes. Import a KiCad project as a zip or a folder (KiCad 5 to 10) and get the schematic, board, pours, 3D models and pictures, with a report of anything it could not read. Export gives your own KiCad files back with only your edits written into them. Projects can now be up to 32 MB, so large boards fit.
Can I use my own AI assistant?
MCP
Yes. Cherry Blossom runs an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor can read and edit your projects with the same tools Sakura uses. It works on every plan, Free included, and each edit lands live in your open tab.
Can a team work on one board?
Collaboration
Share a project by email as an editor or a viewer and edit it together live, with cursors shown. Open it to anyone with the link, viewable signed out. A version history keeps earlier copies you can preview and restore.
Where do the parts come from?
Parts
A parts database, filled from supplier lookups, sits beside a small built-in library of basic parts. A part is drawn only with a real 3D model, and the board exports as STEP for your enclosure work. You can edit a project's parts in a dialog, or import one from its own KiCad files.
How does the schematic editor help?
Schematics
Split a sheet into named blocks, then use Tidy to lay a block out in reading order and Clean up to group loose parts into blocks and tidy the sheet. There are drawing tools, a Block tool, and a sheet tree on the left of the editor.
What can Sakura do now?
Sakura
Sakura reads a part's datasheet, builds parts from supplier data instead of memory, looks at its own work, and uses PCB placement tools to place, turn, flip and lock parts. The Checks panel lists errors and warnings, so you can see what is wrong before you export.
How much does Cherry Blossom v2 cost?
The editor is free. The managed AI starts on Pro.
Free
$0
The whole editor by hand, with projects saved to your account. No managed AI, but you can connect your own assistant through MCP.
Pro
$20 / month
Includes Sakura: 600 AI actions a day and 4M credits a month.
Ultra
$140 / month
4,800 AI actions a day and 32M credits a month, plus our frontier models.
Pro and Ultra can also turn on pay-as-you-go for AI use past their included credits, at $5 per 1M credits, with a monthly cap you set. When Sakura hits a limit it offers the next step: Ultra, or pay-as-you-go. On Free, it offers Pro or your own AI through MCP. Full details are on pricing, and what AI PCB design costs works out when Ultra costs less than pay-as-you-go.
How do I start?
Nothing to install. It runs in a tab.
Open the app, sign in, and start a blank project or one of the examples, which ship already routed. If you have a KiCad project, drop it on the projects page. If you would rather use your own assistant, the MCP setup guide covers Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. For sharing, see sharing, and for keys, shortcuts.
What does it not do yet?
A short list, so you know before you try it.
There are no comments on a board, and no team management or SSO. Import takes KiCad projects and Cherry Blossom project files today; Altium, EAGLE, Cadence Allegro, PADS and EasyEDA import is coming, and so is circuit simulation. A KiCad import reads most projects but not all, and the report lists what it skipped. The Checks panel lists errors and warnings, but it does not make a board correct, so a design still wants an engineer’s eye before it is ordered. See use cases for what people build.
Questions
Cherry Blossom v2 is our own schematic and PCB editor, running in the browser, with Sakura, the AI agent, built in. It is the editor at /app and it replaced our earlier editor. You draw by hand or ask Sakura, and either way you can edit anything. The board exports as Gerbers and drill files, a bill of materials, pick-and-place, STEP, a KiCad project and Circuit JSON, which you upload to any board house.
The editor is free. The Free plan is the whole editor by hand: schematic, layout, routing, checks and exports, with projects saved to your account. What it leaves out is the managed AI, which starts on Pro at $20 a month. Free users can still use AI by connecting their own assistant through the MCP server.
Yes. The MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor sign in to your account and work on your projects with Sakura's tools. It is available on every plan, including Free, and its edits show up live in your open tab as a collaborator's would. Setup steps for each assistant are in the MCP docs.
Yes. It imports KiCad 5 to 10 projects as a zip or a folder, covering the schematic, board, pours, 3D models and pictures, and gives you a report of anything it could not read. Export to KiCad writes your own files back with only your edits in them. Import from Altium, EAGLE, Cadence Allegro, PADS and EasyEDA is coming; OrCAD and DipTrace are not supported.

Open the app in your browser, sign in, and start a blank project or one of the examples. There is nothing to install: the earlier desktop build is retired and the editor runs in a tab. To bring work in, drop a KiCad project onto the projects page.
Open the editor and try it on a board.
Free to start, in your browser. Bring a KiCad project or start from an example.
